Why All-Natural & Plastic Free Packaging

Updated: Mar 27, 2021

In "Plastic Perils" of our "Did You Know" section, we mentioned that reducing the amount of plastics that we consume would greatly help our oceans. Another Major Contributor to the amount of plastics in our oceans and landfills, is the cosmetic industry. Using All-Natural Personal Care Products not only reduces the amount of chemicals that come into contact with your skin, but also reduces the amount of phosphates and nitrates that wash into the rivers and oceans. Excess phosphates and nitrates are the leading cause of Red Tides and Ciguatera. We decided to take manners into our own hands and made our own All-Natural Personal Care Products. These are not affiliate sales. We went a step further and chose to use packaging materials that are recycled and break down naturally. We also opted for Shampoo Bars as another way of reducing plastics and ammonia.

Disclaimer

Our family believes in transparency. We want to be honest with our readers and customers at all times. At this time, we can only guarantee "Plastic Free Shipping" on our skin care items, as they are produced in-house. Occasionally, a package may be shipped in a box that is sealed on the bottom with cellophane tape. This is because we do reuse all of the boxes that we receive our supplies in, and those were shipped with plastic tape.

As far as our other products, we are aware that around 85% of all textiles produced by the fashion industry end up in landfills, making it a major contributor to environmental damage. What’s more, one in every five items produced by the fashion industry reach landfills without being worn even once. So, we have teamed up with a Print On Demand Supplier and we only produce items we get an order for, avoiding textile waste from overproduction. Our printing partner's high-quality printing tech creates almost no wastewaters and uses less energy than standard industry printers. Sustainability is as important to our supplier as it is to Trahpek Care. Here is a quote from them:

". . . we’re also experimenting with using cardboard packaging for phone cases, switching over from plastic to paper tape for securing our boxes, as well as exploring environmentally friendly void filler options for box shipments to boost our sustainability measures.

"We’re getting greener every step of the way, while still providing you the quality products you deserve."

They have already made several changes that "saved more than 38,325 lbs (17,384 kgs) of plastic since February 2020."

In short, we are working hard at making sure that ALL OF OUR PRODUCTS contribute to a Plastic Free Sea.
